In 1992, a calf roper named Fitzmorris pulled up to our barn with a 4 year old quarter horse for sale. After a quick test ride, we cut a deal for $1500 and set out to teach him polo. We named him Fitz after his prior owner and started a friendship that carried both of us through two decades of competitive polo. He was as honest and sound a horse that I ever owned. After retirement, he lived behind the house where he waited patiently for his daily cookie delivered when I got home. An irreplaceable pal is gone.
